Trapped Wind... My tips!

Trapped Wind

Apparently your new born baby won’t get colic if you’re breastfeeding but trapped wind... wow! I can tell the difference with his cry. You can hear the pain in it. Paddy is fantastic getting the wind away as he is a little more, heavy handed than I am, shall we say. (I aren’t in any way implying we are beating the wind out of him, just Thomas is Paddy’s 3rd child and my 1st)
You can use infacol (http://www.infacol.co.uk/?gclid=CMyG_rqCvLkCFYPHtAodXz4AIw) from 1 week to 4 weeks then use Gripe Water. He associates his feed with the infacol, when I put the droplet into his mouth so it does calm him down and gets him ready for his feed. I however have a gulper and I think that’s where the trapped wind comes from. When it is gone, he is such a good, calm baby. He is content after a big trump/poo!
I am not sure anyone really knows the difference between Colic and severe trapped wind but either way it is awful.
Thomas is getting better at it now though, he is 4 weeks old tomorrow so we are having more sleep on a night time. I say we, I am having more sleep.

The things we do to help the trapped wind out of his system are;

·         Rub clockwise on his tummy with the palm of your hand
·         Hold him in-front of you and make him do a little jump, don’t shake just move up and down.
·         Lay him flat and pump his legs in and out and turn them as if he is riding a bicycle
·         Pat the wind out of him but from his bum, almost to send the bubbles upwards
·         Put him over your knee/shoulder but his belly has to be on your knee and pat/rub his back

If all fails, you can speak to your GP and use Gripe water but you have to lower the dosage.

Coldsores

Coldsores

Sigh… Yes I am a sufferer! But I didn’t realise how much they bothered me until I had Thomas! I am currently on day 4 of not been able to give my little boy a kiss! I have been feeling run down and stressed out recently though, so these factors have cause the outbreak!

I decided that enough was enough yesterday and got my Carex anti-bacterial hand gel out and a cotton bud and spread it all over my lips, worked a treat – dried them out. Stung like hell but helped!!  But I also went to the GP today who prescribed me some Fucidin. I have to apply it to the affected area 3 times a day sparingly.

WHO KISSED ME AND GAVE ME COLDSORES?? Gutted!!

Do you suffer from them? What do you do to treat them? Are there any home remedies you could recommend?

Its all very emotional...

It’s very emotional…

So, if you think your hormones are going to go back to normal quickly, they aren’t. I cry at the stupidest of things. My boyfriend brought me a bacon and egg sandwich up to bed after a super rough night with Thomas (he ensured Thomas was OK first, obviously and took him downstairs, changed the nappy etc) and then brought me breakfast in bed.

There was even a flower in a little vase on my plate and a cup of tea. I was crying lots and he said “Hayley what’s wrong? What are you crying for? Is the egg cooked enough for you?” and my response behind all the tears was “I don’t know… *sniff* it’s perfect!”

I was also singing Ellie Goulding, Your Song to Thomas and broke down in a flood of tears.
I try and cherish the moments with him and break down in tears also.
When I look at him, I’m so filled with love, in my once cold heart that I fill up with tears.
When I cannot tackle his trapped wind (Thank god for infacol) I cry.
When something goes wrong, I cry!

When will it stop? I have no idea. I just try not to feel too vulnerable. I have just had a baby and it is all very overwhelming!

I still cannot tolerate anyone. I don’t like the thought that some people must think my baby is a doll! He isn’t a doll, he is my creation.

But these are the thoughts that go through your head.

Love Hurts….
